The markets in and around Saint-Tropez offer a truly authentic experience, allowing locals and tourists alike to discover the unique culture, products and atmosphere of this beautiful Mediterranean region.
SAINT-TROPEZ MARKETS
Saint-Tropez is much more than a seaside destination popular with celebrities. It’s also a place where culture and tradition are inextricably linked. One of the distinct local experiences of this Mediterranean town is a visit to the Saint-Tropez market, which is not to be missed. You’ll be immediately seduced by the vibrant atmosphere, dazzling colors, spicy aromas and all the hidden treasures that await you. Lou Pinet offers the opportunity to see why Saint-Tropez’s markets are absolutely worth a visit during your stay.
Saint-Tropez’s weekly market is a must for shoppers and the curious alike. Located on the Place des Lices, it takes place twice a week on Tuesday and Saturday mornings, when the colorful stalls overflow with a joyful range of fresh produce, local crafts, clothing, jewellery and many other surprises. You can stroll around, soaking up the bustling atmosphere and chatting to the enthusiastic traders. They’ll be happy to help you discover the specialties of Provence.
You’ll also appreciate the proximity of the port, ideal for buying the day’s catch from fishermen by paying a visit the fish market. It’s held every day of the week at the Porte de Poissonnerie. Rascasse, gilthead bream, sea bass and octopus are all on the menu ready to delight your taste buds!
And don’t forget another market in Saint-Tropez which, although less well known than the Lices, is not lacking in charm either: the Place aux Herbes market. Located right next to the fish market, it’s the perfect place to round off your shopping!
Saint-Tropez markets are much more than just places to shop; they reflect local life and Provencal gastronomy. RAMATUELLE FARMERS’ MARKET

Local farmers and craftsmen gather on the Place de l’Ormeau to offer quality local produce, including goat’s cheese, olive oil, honey, organic vegetables, regional wines. You’ll find all the great classics, and everything that makes up the richness of their unique heritage in France and around the world. Don’t leave without trying aioli, fougasse or pissaladière. Local producers will be delighted to tell you all about them.

With its cobbled lanes and stone houses, it has the charm of the perfect traditional tableau. Take a stroll through market and enjoy the cheerful bustle of locals and visitors lingering around the stalls. THE GRIMAUD MARKET
Just a few kilometers west of Saint-Tropez sits Grimaud, a colourful village that hosts its Provencal market every Thursday morning. The picturesque market invites you to wander around in a friendly, traditional atmosphere. Traders sell local produce, from cheeses, fish and seafood, and fruit and vegetables, to textiles, traditional Provencal ceramics and earthenware, as well as handcrafted furniture and toys.
The Grimaud market takes place in the heart of the medieval town, which greatly influences the atmosphere of the market. Narrow, cobbled lanes, period stone facades and historic buildings line the streets. Wandering through the town, you enter an enchanting setting from another era, with an infectious liveliness. You’ll feel transported back in time, alternating exchanges with shopkeepers and admiring the architecture steeped in history and magnificently preserved. This is a renowned shopping destination where you’ll have the satisfaction of unearthing a multitude of local products that reflect the richness of the Provencal region such as olive oil, regional wines, tapenade, pistou, socca, cébettes, anchovies, and more. Tasting them at the market is an excellent way to sample the products and select the ones you like best. It’s also a great opportunity to familiarise yourself with the traditional local craftsmanship, which, like the Saint-Tropez market, is not to be outdone in Grimaud.
The village’s medieval alleyways invite you to take a stroll and appreciate the authenticity of the atmosphere. The ruins of the Château de Grimaud are a lovely place to visit, free of charge. Listed as a historic monument, it offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding village landscape.

THE COGOLIN MARKET
Just a few minutes from Saint-Tropez, the Cogolin market is also well worth a visit. It’s held twice a week, every Saturday and Wednesday, with twice as many traders in the middle of the week. Particularly lively, it offers a wide variety of food and other products, just as you’d hope to discover. The Cogolin market is perfect for stocking up on fresh fruit and vegetables, cheeses, flowers, seafood, honey and Provencal specialties. On Wednesdays, you can also find leather goods, clothing and accessories, as well as a wide range of local handicrafts.

THE SAINTE-MAXIME MARKET
Located on the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, the Sainte-Maxime market is held every Friday morning throughout the year. It’s a veritable paradise for lovers of local produce and typical Provencal textiles. You’ll find a plethora of mouth-watering fresh produce, with an array of Côte d’Azur delights proudly on display. If you’re looking to discover the Mediterranean atmosphere, visit this weekly market and you’ll experience it.
Sainte-Maxime is often described as a haven of tranquillity between land and sea. Once a week, however, the town transforms itself into a lively, beautifully coloured hub. Fresh flowers, seasonal vegetables, local charcuterie, fish and seafood fill the stalls and turn the Place Mermoz into a postcard picture. Provençal gastronomic specialties are on offer, with tapenade, anchoïade, olive oil, local jams, rosé wines and garrigue honey on the menu.
This is a more family-friendly market than Saint-Tropez. If you like variety, and if you like to try the produce before you buy, you’ll be delighted. Sainte-Maxime’s market traders are happy to share their treasures with you, and reaffirm the overall sense of conviviality.
After strolling down the market aisles, take the time to tour this traditional Côte d’Azur town. You’ll see with your own eyes the image of the umbrella pine balancing on the corniche. Your eyes will be lost in the sparkling waters of the Mediterranean as they break against the steep, rocky coastline. The panoramic views are breathtaking and can be admired endlessly.
